October’s Very Own
We’re huge fans of Drake here at Smash Urban Media, and we wanted to create a website that could take October’s Very Own to the next level. This rapper knows what it means to start from scratch and rise to the top, and so do we. For this project, we began with the fundamentals.
We tried to incorporate all the values and major themes from OvO Sound’s music into our designs by choosing a minimalist, clean-cut style that retained the gold, black, and white colors from their original concept. We wanted the content to resonate with Drake’s fan base and represent his roots in Toronto, Canada—“The 6”—by curating and showcasing some of his most inspirational quotes to create a powerful statement that touches on the brand’s key values about family and success, while establishing his growing influence on the global stage.
To create a fully interactive experience, we began by designing an updated navigation menu that provides a preview of each page using the original Owl logo. Next, for the OvO Store, we used a smart grid-style gallery with product pages that feature full preview samples to provide an improved shopping experience within an appealing layout. We also created artist profile pages so that each artist can develop their own brand identity within OvO Sound and fans can achieve a more personalized connection with their favorite artists. We then added a variety of features to these pages in order to enhance user experience: biographies, fun facts, tour and events calendars, music playlists, and galleries with links to social media.
